Prop Spitfire on display outside Portsmouth Guildhall, 1969

This prop Spitfire was on display to promote the film Battle of Britain which was released in cinemas on 15 September 1969. According to Wikipedia ‘the producers located 109 Spitfires in the UK, of which 27 were available although only 12 could be made flyable’. As well as some being built specifically for background scenes in the movie.
